what video of yours has the Dr suess poem read in it, it helps me so much !
I’ve just found this channel & am grateful. I’m going to save these 39 videos to my OCD playlist 🙏
Wait... trying to stop ourselves from thinking doesn't work, so the solution is to try and think more about it? Did I get that right?
There is a demon behind this condition, I have just been delivered after battling extreme blasphemous thoughts and anxiety for 1 year. The demons really tormented me to a point I became suicidal, I pray for anyone going through this situation, it is a very dark place to be in, may our Lord God deliver us from evil , Amen
I’ve had OCD/PTSD since I was 4 and the “it’s a water pistol” is amazing advice
I check my meds. I had an emergency because I ran out. It was life threatening. Very annoying.

Damn, you look good.
Hi dear Katie I am glad that you back you are my best advisor for helping to treat my ocd thanks for everything
Hi Katie! One of my friends desperately needs your help in overcoming an extreme level of OCD. This is really impacting his life very negatively and he is willing to consult a reliable specialist all over the world like you regardless of the effort or price involved! Please advise if you are able to provide an exception and entertain this case though you do not seem to have capacity for every request I guess. We would be very grateful to you. Thanks a ton in advance!
Wow, this video of yours has really given me the first hope I have in 40 years of suffering with ocd. I am going to put your advice into action and persevere. It can't be worse than suffering with ocd every day. Thank you sooooooo very much for helping those who have been suffering so much with ocd. God bless you!!
Hi Dr. Katie, thanks for the video but it feels we are coming across you a little too late. My brother is diagnoased with acute/severe OCD. And he is also very depressed and has stopped wishing to live and despite after being in a local rehab back in Delhi, India for good 6 weeks is now again back to the same situation in no time. What can we do as he won't take any medicines and has also stopped eating. We feel a bit helpless. The doctor at the hospital is asking for a re-admission for the same cost but the trust is lost as the doctor assumed he is ok to be released and released him. We did force him to go to the hospital/rehab as he had stopped eating and was on a death bed. It seems by making him go there, we just got an extension.
What if you check doors multiple times? What about pockets? And faucets?
I grew up in a very stupid family background. They always had this way to make the youg kids feel guilty by telling them that there always wrong because they are adults. And they know everything. So at the beginning when i started to view the world logically they used say that im wrong and like used to show a lot of emotions and explaining something bad always. At first i used not take notice but later i started to think what if im wrong. Because they always find a bad reason to explain that im wrong and they always like act like they get a heart attack so that's how my ocd started.
How do i contact you katie
Thanks a lot for uploading these videos

I'm worried about future about Can I recuit in a job ? Or can I marreid ?
Thank you this worked a lot for me
I was abused as a child. How do I do ERP properly? How do u deal with real contamination? As in, some fear but others experience. Your advice would be helpful…
How do you deal with trauma ocd?
Katie , how would ERP look on with checking your facebook constantly to see whether you've sent an inappropriate message or see whether you've liked someone's photo by mistake, which is something that you definitely wouldn't do? Would that be staying with the anxiety and the uncertainty of whether you've done it or not ?
Act like you trust yourself what would you if you were walid
This actually makes total sense to try (my brain is mixing and making music all day-especially mixing is all about choosing what sound to focus on) thanks for this!!
I am definitely straight hahahaha. It is an obsession ejet b rase because of the environment not because i am gay . I always joke around being gay w be2raf mn el shabeb w 2yora nya2 gay porn ana hala2 i am making a disgusted face so stop thinking about it. If you think about it you become more uncertain you know
I have a extreme fear and obsession over getting bedbugs. It’s scary because where I work I sometimes come across people with bedbugs and then it sends me in a spiral of fear of bringing them home. Is there anyone with a similar fear?
Omg I used to have intrusive thoughts related to my religion and it made my life a living hell
You are the definition of what fine wine looks like. Better with age
From one cognitive therapist to another your info is sterling!
I am sick and tired of feeling sick in the head, please pray for me every one.
WHAT! I absolutely disagree. Do not leave hair straighteners on at the wall and plugged in. Not all straigtners have auto switch off. And do not leave toasters plugged in and on at the wall. My toaster has a clear label telling you not to do that. If, like me, you have an issue with checking electrical appliances are off, then gradually work your way down to fewer checks. But not "leaving stuff on." NO! Do not do it with candles! Do not leave candles alight when you aren't there... obviously! Reducing checking to a normal level is required, not abandoning common sense. I feel this lady has no technical knowledge of electrical appliances.
I understand your horror at these ideas! Unfortunately reducing checks is not a very effective method of combatting OCD. Checking is a way of trying to minimise discomfort. When we do things that we assume will cause discomfort and learn both that we can live with the discomfort and that the discomfort will get better in its own the need to check will dissipate.
@23katied Hi Katie, I'm 66. I've had OCD from the age 8. I understand OCD well. And can I just say I really appreciate what you do. But what we don't do is conduct therapy in a way that poses a serious risk of a house fire... obviously. You actually said, "You can do the same with candles." (6:43 In video) I interpret that as leaving candles alight while you leave the house. That is a very bad thing for you to advise people to do. The fire brigade would freak out at the suggestion. I had a toaster that had a malfunctioning switch, and the element remained on after I removed the bread. Luckily, 40 minutes later, I was still at home, but it had blackened the underneath of the kitchen cupboard. Some electrical items you can indeed leave plugged in, and the socket switched on. However, there are appliances you should never do that with. For the appliances that pose too much of a fire risk, then gradually reducing checking down to switching off and unplugging but not checking if you have, or maybe one check, is the way to go, not leaving the house with hair straighteners, toasters and other such devices with an electrcally live conductive path to the heating element energised in the appliance. It's not about "horror and discomfort" in an OCD, avoiding compulsions sense... It's about abandoning common sense and posing a fire risk. Therapy is not about risking burning a house down. As a sufferer for many decades, from perhaps, before you were born, I love what you do. But please think carefully about advice to leave items with heating elements switched on, contrary to manufacturers' advice and common sense. And certainly don't tell people they can leave candles burning. And of course, unplugging and switching off is not checking.
What if one of your obsessive intrusive thoughts is your fiance betraying you? She hasn't done anything to give me a reason to worry about it, but I do.
Hi , do you do private therapy sessions?
❤
Woweeeee this really helps
Is watching your videos when I had a panic related to OCD a reassurance compulsion ?
I was worried about u😢 Please never stop posting ❤ I missed u so much😭
I'll do my best to be more regular!!
what is your recommendation for Pure-O?
I worry about becoming a psychopath should I watch psychopath movies.
Face your fears I trust myself I love myself. Be a man don't stress
Kate but it feels like fake if i act as it does not mean anything. How to handle this fake feeling i always find myself in doing rumination
The more you practice feeling uncertain you are going to feel more certain
Live with the discomfort with the uncertainty. Just let things go. You have ocd it isnt a gun to my head it's not the end of the world
You’re great
Ignore it you just don't care about it and then you won't think about it. Just make things normal and you won't care about it
Happy to see you again Katie madam. Your videos are helping me alot. Thank you.
